Parliament hill,hampstead/highgate or go up the monument

Well you could go on the eye, but you'd have to go early in the morning because apparently there gets to be a big queue for it. In my personal opinion some good views can be seen if you go onto the millenium bridge and go onto the other side of the Thames (not the side with the eye) and just walk west up the river. I got some lovely pictures when I took that route.

There is a monsterous ferris wheel on the Thames from which you can get a good view of everything. As for vistas from high buildings in town, you will have to check the guides; the place has changed markedly since I was there.

You get a lovely view from the top of St Pauls Cathederal, as long as you don't mind the 700 steps!
