Random differs from spontaneous by the number of possibilities available to occur. Random is like a drawing with 1000 names and it's random who wins. All names in the drawing having equal chance. Spontaneous is one event and it may occur at anytime. So Random is the number of things possible in one event. Spontaneous is the idea that one thing could happen at any given time.
ex. Some random guy spontaneously kissed my sister!
That means "many" guys could have kissed my sister, but this one was just one of the population on men on the planet.
It was spontaneous because it could have occurred now, later, or before...but it happened NOW...all of a sudden with no warning!

Being random is just saying or doing anything and everything. Being spontaneous is thinking and making it up as you go along.

random is like blurting something completely out of nowhere like saying the word "numchucks" in the middle of your conversation.
spontaneos is doing something in the spurr of the moment, like you'll be sitting watchin tv, then you'll say, "lets go surfing!"
