The unit starts blowing not so cool air because the thermostat is telling the unit that is cool enough in the room. Just wait about 10 minutes and it will blow cold again. I have it set to max cool and the room is not cool enough. I am wondering if I can disable it. Thermostats work by just two wires making contact and completing the circuit. I am just wondering if I can cut the wire about six inches above the thermostat. There should be two wires which I would be able to permanantly connect thus disabling the thermostat and keeping the unit going at max cool. Is this safe? Possible? This unit is a Haier
window AC, one of their cheaper models.

The sensing bulb should be on the front of the unit at the air inlet side. You might try pulling this away from the coils a bit. The electric side of the thermostat is line voltage, so if you do work on the T-stat, unplug the unit before working.

These thermostats do fail; I've replaced a few. You might find a replacement online, or call an appliance repair parts house in your community.

it may't be getting less warm than seventy 9 because of the warmth load that that's attempting to maintain up with.. if the room that its in is unquestionably insulated and the size of the unit is actual for the size of the room then one in each and every of two issues could be happening. one the unit is slowly leaking freon. 2, the thermostat is undesirable. if its leaking then the leak should be repaired and the unit charged up. if its the thermostat then unplug the unit and take out the covers, do away with the knob and unscrew the thermostat. disconnect the wires. ensure you realize the place to connect them returned. do away with the thermostat being careful with the line and bulb. then ensure you get the ideal replace. if the problem is a leak then you definitely probably go with to have a service technician discover the leak and price the unit.

The problem with running the AC without the thermosat is that you may either freeze the coils up or burn out the motor. In either case it would void any warranty you would have on the unit.
