That was vaige. Okay a 'bug' is an insect has 6 legs and 2 anttena and 3 body parts.. pay attention people annoy me when they can't corrctly identify insects. Spiders have 8 legs and 2 body parts no anttena arachnids not bugs or insects arachnids. Now a scorpion has 8 legs 2 claws and a stinger not an arachnid. A vinegaroon has 8 leg 2 claws 2 feelers and a tail that shoots out vinegar. So from what you said maybe a windscorpion. Windscorpion isn't a scorpion it's tailess has 4 creepy jaws 8 legs run fast and are tannish colored... be more detailed describe everything not just the number of legs or color go into more detail.

Actually, Panda-Style, scorpions ARE arachnids. They are the oldest type of arachnid known. And you would know that if you actually knew about entomology. Look it up yourself if you don't believe me.
Anyway, back on topic.
Someone asked a similar question on Yahoo!Answers a while back. One person identified the spider in question as a White-Tailed Spider. Take a look at these pics, and see if it looks familiar. If not, you can use the second link to sort through pictures of various species of spiders for something that looks more accurate (best part is, you can search by common name):

Good luck with your search.

its a jumping spider
and/or
a spider cricket
they don't bite, but they do chase you and scare the crap out of you...just stomp it, they come out more in the darkness, so if you see one with any lights on theres a good chance theres about 1500 waiting to come out once its good and dark
eek

It could have been a black widow spider depending on where you live... In that case though, I would suggest an exterminator.

If it has a tail it's a scorpion. tail looks like a stinger because it's a stinger
