I have never noticed that the first answer is usually voted best answer but giving someone a best answer does not give the voter a point, it only gives the person that gets a best answer 10 points. Have a nice weekend.

No, that's not always true.
Unless the Question is something like, "First correct answer gets Best Answer". In that case, the Best Answer might very well be the first one, if it is the correct answer.
But, yes, unfortunately many people don't take Y!A seriously and just make posts and choose answers just to get the points....so sad.
I guess they think they can turn them in later for real cash.

i think people just go through questions that are getting voted for really fast. They just click the first one then go to the next one and repeat until they get bored so then can get tons of points

A possibility (my guess) is that alot of people just vote for the points rather than systematically reading all the answers and evaluating their merit and weighing the strength of the answers.

I think folks are too lazy to read all the answers and actually pick the best one. They pick the closest one to the top they somewhat agree with. I'm ususlly on the bottom or second page so I know.God bless!!

They're just trying to get points as quickly as possible to move on to the next open question. I read through all of them, and then pick.

a lot of times ppl give the same answer so just to make it easier on the person thats having to choose they just choose the first one who gave the answer that their looking for

Is it? Perhaps the receiver get lazy and doesn't read anything more than just the first few and decides to use that one.
