I find often people forget Jesus was a Jew!
I am sure your mother is not aware of how she might approach this topic and so she does what is the only thing which occurs to her.
Historically it is true that the Jews have had a great deal of business interests, esp. in the US. Hollywood for example is owned by them, so are many of the jewelery companies in the US.
Does this mean all Jews are greedy and out to get others? No, it doesn't. However, I'm sure your mother is making a judgment either on her personal experiences which have caused her views or what a preacher so fallously taught her.
I am from a place where the blacks and the whites (Georgia) are seemingly always at each others throats; does this mean all blacks are bad people? No, but it does mean I have not had much success with them. Even so, I do have some friends of many races (my wife for example is a Condeferate of Chinese descent, but she is proud as all to be a Confed.).
You might consider learned about the history of the Jewish people and their relations with others and then compare this history with your God given logic and formulate your own opinion concerning this matter; and then, go to your mother and ask her why she feels the way she does and share with her your thoughts on the subject. Maybe she'll come around to your view, maybe she won't; but at least you can become aware of each other's views and if need be, agree to disagree.

When people start feeling bad about life, they tend to look for scapegoats. Your mom might be doing the same. The nice thing about being a kid is that you can learn from her mistakes and sometimes even get her to see how wrong she is. Nothing is harder to deal with as a parent than your child doing the right thing, even while you do the wrong thing (think of kids getting their parents to stop smoking).
I also agree with the person who said study history, but study REAL history. It makes NO sense at all for a city that wasn't even a PART of the Civil War to have any kind of Confederate OR Union flag. Plus, deciding to wave a Confederate flag or having Confederate memorials seems to be so very in, but people have a FIT when someone suggests having a swastika on a flag or a Nazi memorial...and with GOOD REASON! We don't celebrate groups of people who caused misery to others. We can't decide to rewrite history and say it was about state's rights so our ancestors don't look like Nazis because that just makes it WORSE. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it (or, in the case of the person who posted, are doomed to misunderstand it, then quote it for their own personal use). There's a GREAT book you can read called :Lies My Teacher Told Me that really explains history based on real research, not just the hype about how wonderful we've always been as a country. You can check it out here: http://www.uvm.edu/~jloewen/liesmyteachertoldme.php
And NEVER hide behind the PC argument. We all think being politically correct is stupid until someone threatens something we hold dear. Don't fall into that same boat.
You seem like a smart kid, so just keep thinking for yourself and speaking out against things that are wrong and you'll be alright!

Study history.A PC mentality has you brainwashed into thinking multiculturalism is a good thing. It is not. When a culture loses its' heritage and forgets past history it is doomed. The illuminati rules this world, and many-but not all--are Jews.Christianity is under attack because Judaism has become our state religion. And no...it is not part of Christianity. It was formed in 6th century Babylon.Cabalistic Zionism is being pitted against Islam for the future WW3.As for the Southern flag...they were right about the War of Northern Agression. It was a war over states' rights, not slavery.

Well, for one thing, most everyone is racist. Just watch how black guys act and talk, listen to their music, it is anti-white and anti-police. Number two, check the internet on why the Confederate Flag came to exist and why the Grand Ole South stepped away from the union. You will find that it wasn't over race, but freedoms. More power to your mother and please check into the truth at last. Have a great week.

Okay chances are she just hates jews as they do happen to be white at least from what I know. You know shes racist if she hates any other races who arent white though. She probably just really hates jews though in which it would be more of a religious discrimination but ask her what she thinks about other races and you'll know for sure. Or better yet ask how she would feel if you had a girlfriend who wasnt white.
Try not to confuse religious hate with racial hate although it could even be both. Good luck with finding out though.

confident, regrettably your mom is a racist. You dealt with the placement perfect and you placed an occasion on your siblings (and your mom). you are able to be a racist no count what race you're, confident Alex, even non-white human beings could be racist. human beings react particular techniques mostly because of the fact of their personalities and not their race.

To open the door to the conversation that you are going/have to have with your Mom is the big step. Personally I would simply tell her how it makes you feel when you hear her make remarks like that.
Be ready to be talked to like a kid, but if you know your feelings about this, stick to what you know is right.
If it turns into an argument, don't worry. Intense conversation is remembered and thought about more than a timid one.
Good Luck

I wouldn't ask her if she were a racist if I were you. I would say something like, "You know mom, people are people and no one's better than another. Just to make sure, you should bring someone who is of a different race to your house to see if she treats them differently. You maythe be able to tell if she is just stereotyping like some people or just flat out being biased or racist. Always remember she's your mom though. say it with respect. I'm sorry for your confusion. I hope things work out =P
