This has been on and off for the past few months. The pain is below the belly button and above his pubic hairline. It is cramps with soreness if you press on that spot. He says it makes him feel like he needs to have more frequent bowel movements although he does have them. I know everyone is going to say "go to the doctor" but he does not have insurance and he wants to know what's going on BEFORE he seeks medical attention. CAN ANYONE HELP???

Honestly in situations like this it can be anything from gas which is truly painful, causes bloating and sometimes sharp pains, not to mention cramps and soreness. If you want to try and rule out somethings I personally reccomend people to drink perrier or some type of drink with bubbles, and without sugar if you can. I would then recomend that they drink ginger , dandelion or a black tea for digestion and detox. If none of these work and the soreness continues then I would go to the doctor, but it could truly be serious or nothing at all. For most cities there is a clinic that is for people without ensurance but try the things I recommended which would be able to maybe kinda tell you if it is gastro or not. I mean I am not doctor.

This sounds like a simple case of a hernia. It is a rip or tear in the intestinal tract or a severly pulled muscle in the area. It can be extremly painfull and can be on and off like you said. This needs to be repaired with a surgical procedure to repair it.

It could also be the begginning stages of appendicitus, if the pain is located primarily in the right side of his abdomen. However since it has been going on for months it is highly unlikely

it might be his appendix. if he doesnt have insurance, tell him to ask the dr. about sliding fee. some places has the sliding fee.but if it is his appendix, he better get it checked, or it might burst.
