Yes, it was actually time to do it ten years ago.

One of the things I have done, personally is; check the labels on the products I purchase - and, have discovered almost everything on the shelves, in my State are made in other countries! It is time we take back our country, including this so called "fair" trade agreement with China. It is almost anything but fair! Clinton, as I understand it, set this up during his presidency, but was unable to finish the job. While, I do not know the ins and outs and the real purpose for all this trade stuff, 'imho' it has only worked against America. I love Clinton as a president - but, am still angry about this particular decision. I am also quite upset about the N.A.F.T.A. program as well... now, much of our goods are being made in Mexico and other South American Countries! Until we get a president in office who actually gives a care about our country, this is what we get - sadly. Obviously this administration isn't the answer - they support big oil, big business, and big bucks for them and theirs.
It's no wonder our economic base has gone down the tubes... I keep asking why is this p.Resident (still) selling out America?

When China started to import to America a boycott was called for then. The money we spend on Chinese made goods goes to increase their military budget. They have the largest standing army in the world. Many in Politics tried to warn us. One of the things that bother me was the Clinton Administration's allowance of China to buy out and ship home the only rare earth magnet manufacturer in America. These magnets are essential in the guidance systems in ballistic missiles. A boycott is not what will help now. It is the trade imbalance with China. They need to open their markets to us.
Additional: If you want to buy an American made car now you have to buy a Toyota. Chevrolet is made in Mexico.

Yes, a globalised market can not be sustainable. As far as inexpensive products, we are actually paying dearly for those discount store pieces of sh** products.
Don't buy them, boycott China now. Look for products without made in China on them. Write or email or phone your legislatures and write corporations. Tell thecorporations you won't buy their products made in China and that you're selling your stock in their companies. Tell you legislators that you do not support China or a global based economy. They'll come around.
Here's why:
China has tried to poison our pets
China has tried to poison us with melamine, a substance made from coal that can shut down your kidneys and kill you.
Melamine is used to stretch powdered food used to thicken substances without adding any nutritional value so that they can make more money per product sold.
Tires made in China are dangerous--there is a recall on them now.
China has tried to poison our children by painting toys, labelled as safe, with leaded paint. Lead based paint when ingested causes brain damage.
Do not buy Chinese food or eat at Chinese restaurants.
Here's why:
Chinese restaurants are notoriously filthy and local health departments give them poor ratings all the time, this information never reaches the public.
MSG contains melamine and other food Chinese restaurants use contains melamine
Chinese restaurants are fronts for human slave trafficing, hiding illegal aliens, and they are sleeper cells and intelligence centers reporting to Chinese intel
Here's a question for you--have you ever seen a Chinese family eating in a typical Chinese restaruant?

Boycott, no. Regulate, yes. Here is where I divert from some of my conservative friends. Regulating imports would provide fair (and safe) competition in the global market and preserve many American jobs. As a member of the manufacturing sector, my eyes have been opened.

I have been avoiding them as much as possible but a total boycott is very difficult since some products have chinese made ingredients or parts but the whole item might be made somewhere else.

I promise you that so much stuff from China is made with little or no regard for the end consumer, you would be shocked if you knew the total extent. Remember the children's toys stuffed with rags soaked in solvents, etc?
When I was overseas, European countries make a lot of their goods themselves, even the souvenir stuff.. What do you they know that we don't, except it is a good idea to keep jobs in your own country?

Considering the recalls for food and health products imported from China, we should boycott it not as a political measure, but as a means to keep our selves healthy. Would you deliberately eat poison to satisfy your hunger? I don't think so, and since some products from China did have poison, it would be best to assume ALL products from china had poison in them and not buy them.

Oh sweet darling child, if we didn't buy the stuff from china, who pray tell would make the products at such a cheap price? Not even Mexico could find such cheap, skilled workers.
This is nothing new.
