If we do that, we'll need to lower it again and again. Get the point?

Because a child under 21 does not have the brain development to make "right" decisions, or so I have studied and read. Although most people don't follow those guidelines and laws, if we lowered it then you would probably see more DUI 's and fatalities due to drinking and driving as well as many other accidents. The age limit in Canada is 19 and that seems to be working alright, but these age limits keep our kids safe.

I didn't have my first drink until I was almost 21, but I agree this is an extremely hypocritical law, since a large majority of people are breaking it. Same with speed limits. Either we need to make a real effort to enforce these laws or they should be repealed. Kids grow up believing that it's okay to break the law, as everybody's doing it.

Years ago 18 was the legal drinking age. I'm rusty on my history, but I believe the 1st President Bush approved the bill to change it from 18 to 21.

Because drinking is really pointless. I don't drink underage, and I don't intend to ever waste my nights doing things I'll never remember. Getting drunk isn't safe, not even for the oldest person in the world. I think there should be no such thing as beer.

Cuz the US tries to regulate us as Americans..
THEY SHOULD LOWER IT!
Other countries(like Germany) don't even have age limits and they don't have HALF the problems that we do with drinking! Just like drugs...If they legalized Marijuana..Over HALF the drug problems in the US would disappear, cuz Marijuana is the "key" to getting drug deals!

BUT I DON'T SUPPORT THAT!...I'd be out of a job!

just because people do something at a certain age doesn't mean its a good idea to legalize a lower age requirement. would you want a 4 year old driving on the streets? NO

My sister and that i weren't supervised ok. besides, in ecu international places the place toddlers are truly allowed to drink at a youthful age, they do no longer see it as "forbidden fruit". i think of it somewhat is why.

The younger you are the worse effect alcohol has on your body, not just getting you drunk, but destroying your internal organs. When you reach 21 your body has reached it's full potential, but prior to that the alcohol is 5 times more destructive.
