Ahhh, the modern myth or organic = better. In some cases, this is true. In other cases, it is not. You can't just switch the entire basis of our agricultural system from chemically based to organically based. There is a natural limit to how much food can be grown on a given piece of land without artificial fertilizers and pesticides. Without those "big bad chemicals" we could not grow enough food to stave off malnutrition with the current population size, much less a growing population.
Now, you can argue we need to lower population, but somehow I think mass starvation isn't the way to go about it.

Well, the environmentalists regulated our farming, and now our produce is too expensive. We get ours from South America who doesn't follow the same rules.
The FDA? Try the Enviros. Oh, and it is far cheaper to eat healthy than to eat fast food crap.
Of course that involves cooking and effort.

the most recent data show that the rate of drug withdrawals hasn't changed in decades.
what has changed is the media attention to such issues.

God not having invented the FDA, you've got to expect that it'll screw up every so often. Good management is when the frequency of screw ups is both low and stable -- which it is.

well... betrayed is a bit strong...
organic is better, but it costs more too... and if the poor people can't afford it, healthier food won't matter to them...
and for the most part, I think our food is relatively safe, and that's their job... so they are doing it..
the are severely undermanned though, so some things do slip through...

The FDA gets a majority of its funding from Pharmaceutical companies so if it not on their agenda it will not get the attention and unbiased review it deserves.

if everything were organic, prices would still be sky high. food is sold by weight, which is aided by hormones. so without money, the farmers would be broke...which in turn could screw up the entire internal economy of the US.

people can buy organic food. its not always expensive depending on where you shop.
The FDA decides how dangerous things are. if people are really upset they should boycott. if people won't buy something, places won't try to sell it
