I would suggest selling that car and getting an SUV or truck that actually is 4 wheel drive.
Just because you put 4x4 tires on it does not mean it is a 4x4.
A 4x4 means that the engine drives all the wheels, instead of just the two front, or in your Pontiac's case, the two rear wheels.

4X4 means that all four wheels are pushing your car forward at once. The front and the rear axles both do the work. A 2 wheel drive vehicle only uses one axle to push forward. Either the front or rear depending on what kind of car. A front wheel drive vehicle is way better in the snow that a rear wheel drive. Changing tires will not make it 4x4. There is nothing you can do to make it 4x4 other than trade it for a new vehicle.

The only thing you can really do is to put snow tires on the rear wheels.
4X4 refers to the driving wheels, not the type of tires being used. You have a 2 wheel drive car, and it would cost you a lot more to convert it than going out and buying a 4 wheel drive car or truck. good luck.

Tires will not make a car into a 4x4. You can get snow tires if you need them in the winter. Buy a Jeep.

just putting on larger offroad style tires wont make it a 4x4. what 4 wheel drive means is that all four wheels recieve power from the transmission ys you can make your vehicle four wheel drive but its going to involve adding a transfer case a driveshaft to the front an axle in the front that has a diferrential and then you will have a four wheel drive but its going to be costly and may be cheaper to buy a 4wd vehicle for the winters

4x4 means 4WD. Putting tires on it won't make it a 4x4. Buy a cheap truck if you need a 4x4 for winter.

No.Get snow tires or buy a 4x4. Getting it done in a shop would be cost prohibitive, if not impossible.

And if you put a propeller on the front bumper, it means you have an airplane.
Are you for real, man? And what is a "4x4 tire?"

you bet! it's all in the tires, just slap some 44 inch mud boggers on there and take her out. If you have troble getting the 44's mounted just cut the fenders off with a torch. Don't forget to post some pictures of your exploits, I am always in the mood for a good laugh.
