It' is a revered place. I think it should be left as one.
A heritage site is a monument at that attracts a lot of tourists. This makes the place lose its sanctity. It loses its significance. It becomes a ' must see ' on a tourists itinerary. It no longer remains a place where you can just pray and be one with God. It would become a commercial center.

Golden Temple is a great architecture. However without any bad meaning I would like to say that in India there are at least 20 other architecture similar to Golden Temple. And also it can be part pf 25 wonders and not of 7 wonders !
