Name her Tahlequah.. TA-LEE-QUAW.
That is the capital of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. Or you could name her Mankiller, after the famous first female chief in modern Cherokee history. Wilma Mankiller :) She was a coool lady.

Tsalagi means Cherokee in the Cherokee language. You pronounce is SHA-LA-GEE and there is a resort in Oklahoma named that. Depending on where you are, I think that is a cool name.

I have met several boys named Chibon, which means boy and girls named Hoktee, which means girl in Muscogee or Creek language. Most often they were named by their grandparents. Do you have access to any elders? I can assure you they can help you with the naming of your baby and they will probably know how to do it in the proper Cherokee ceremony also.

I am neither Muscogee nor Cherokee, but I am from Oklahoma and was raised here, The Land of the Red Man!!!

The spelling should be "Cherokee". That might help you get better results when searching on the net for those. Otherwise, I don't know what to advise. Are you of Cherokee lineage? If so, maybe do some genealogy research and see what some of the ancestors were named.
