Scott,
I have had a similar problem with rhapsody.
I ripped a cd using their software. It has a loud buzz for about 5 secs at the beginning and plays thru fine, but if I want to skip to track 5, for ex, it plays about 5 secs of the end of track 4 and then starts track 5.
I called tech support and they suggested ripping at a slow speed like 4x.
Then I tried a differrent brand of cd-r and
these didn't have the buzz, won't play on my house stereo, but will play in my computer or car stereo.
It's so weird, so I'll be watching to see what kind of responses you get.
I was thinking maybe it's some kind of secret technique to lock you in to using their program to play back.
Or all the players and stereos and all are not in synch and compatible.

WMP is a waste of time, it has problems in both XP and Vista. Use another media player/ripper program.
