a sled....a sled to go sliding with in the snow.....just a general sled, nothing in particular, doesnt matter if it's wood, metal, plastic...Thats in the North

A toboggan is a long , flat-bottomed sled made of thin boards curved up at one end with low handrails on the sides, and used in races along a downward, sharp decline. I live in Iowa, but have watched these races during the winter Olympics several times (this sled is open, where the luge sled is not).

Le toboggan nordique translates to "the Nordic Toboggan". It is the name of a roller coaster ride.

A long, wooden sled that curves up in the front and can hold several people (a Northerner's definition).
