Which in your opinion is the best cell phone carrier and why? I'm thinking of switching carriers...which have you had the best experience with, like the most, etc?

I think Verizon has the best coverage area and best reception. But T-Mobile is really good too, per friends of mine that have switched to T-Mobile. I have Cingular and I'm in a very populated part of Silicon Valley, and I get a very poor reception a lot of the time and lots and lots of dropped calls. Verizon tends to work even in the middle of nowhere. You can check out all the different carrier plans and get a very cool cell phone for FREE with a new service plan from any of the major carriers. T-Mobile tends to have more minutes for the same price as the other carriers. Click on the link below and you can compare all the plans and phones.

Hello. I have actualy used all three of the major service carriers in the United States (Cingular, Sprint, and Verizon). Personally, I think that Sprint's coverage is really good. I never had a problem with dropped calls when I was with them. But, Sprint is quite expensive and their choice of phones was not very good. Verizon also had really good service areas and their data service is quite fast. But I also found them expensive and I had a bad experience with their customer service. I am now using Cingular/AT&T and its not bad. I do have the occasional dropped call with them, so that is a little annoying. But they use GSM, which is the service that the rest of the world uses. So if you plan on travelling to other countries, you can get your AT&T phone unlocked and use it overseas. Also, since they are GSM, you can get phones from other markets that US providers don't normally carry. I also found AT&T to be the cheaper of the three majors. Hope that helps.

It largely depends on where you're using the phone. I live in a small town in North Florida, USA, and we've used Verizon, Alltel, Tracfone, and AT&T (formerly Cingular).

In my experience, the overall best reception was with Alltel and Tracfone. They usually picked up almost everywhere. Alltel was rough a few years back, but it seems to be getting its act together. (Note: Tracfone is prepaid only.)

Verizon had the poorest signal in my area, but I've heard good things about it in other areas. It has somewhat of a reputation for being good overall service, albeit pricey.

AT&T is what I'm currently using. Its reception is fair to good in these parts. The rollover minutes are a plus for me. And if you're crazy about the iPhone, AT&T is your only choice for now. Overall I'm satisfied with AT&T. It's definitely far from perfect, but it gets the job done.

My friends have Sprint/Nextel, and they love it. Their only complaints have been with its customer service.

I've also heard good things about T-Mobile, so maybe you could look into that.

Sprint cheap. Free time begins at 7 p.m.
over mins is only $5 a month not .45 cents a minute
good service in las vegas and even took to the east coast and worked. works in California.
very reliable and the customer service people on the 800 number are competitent.
If sprint has a good signal by your house consider this phone.

AT&T is probably the largest, and they have the new iPhone. Sprint is a monster since they merged with nextel, and Verizon well they have good and bad service no matter where you go.

I have had sprint when I was living in the Mid-west and in Southern California and the service was great once I got a decent phone, Just say no to Motorola...

I guess it would help to check the cell phone reports for your area...

By far the best touch screen interet capable phone I have had experience with was AT&T's iPhone. Of corse, they are quite pricey. Verison wireless is very good when it comes to service and there phones aren't too shabby either. I highly recomend staying away fromthe sameung glyde. I currenty have a samsung alias which isn't a touch screen but is very efficiant I highly recomend a sameung or of model phone. Stay away from anything free. Because there's a reason they are free and it's not eactly a great one Best of luck to you on your hunt, I know it can be tricky

Depends on where you live, some places Verizon beats Cingular, and vice versa
