We Americans are squandering our hard-earned and fought for freedoms. Both the Dems and Repubs are lying and cheating us out of our freedoms and financial viability as a country. America has become involved in wars, social spending programs, etc., that have been created to enslave us. Both the Iraq and Vietnam Wars were instigated on false premises, by both Republican and Democrat Administrations. When are we as a country going to wake up and toss these charlatans out on their collective behinds and vote into office people who really care, and will uphold the Constitution?

Because they are the only ones who run. If anyone decent does run they usually don't have enough money to stay in the race long enough to gain popularity.

GREAT question my fellow American! It really isn't fair that it takes so many millions of dollars to get elected as President. If the candidate does not have the funds he is forced to drop out of the race and then we end up with two schmucks to vote for. Which means we try to pick the lesser of the two evils.

Some of the guys I would vote for probably won't make it because of lack of funds for their campaign. So we'll see a show down of Giuliani and Clinton or Obama. They have the well known names and the most money. Not fair. I'll vote for none of those three.

We need someone tough on immigration, someone who is a true PATRIOT and loves this country. Someone who will put this country and the American citizens interests above all else. But good luck finding that on election day...(Might be a good day to meet up for margaritas.)

Great question! I keep asking myself that and the only thing I can come up with is that these candidates are merely telling the people what they want to hear and then going about business as usual and raking in the money and passing out the influence.

I suppose the foremost requirement for a career in politics is the ability to lie with a straight face and then have the imagination to be able to come up with an evasive answer when asked about it. I think they call that charisma.

We have elections for local office that may not require tons of money, but depending on the size of your area, your county, state, and federal representatives all have to have big money to get elected today. The system is rigged. We don't have a democracy. The corporate lobbyists are the front men for corporate America and for the wealthy minority. Europe doesn't blame Americans for what their government does since Americans don't elect their government.

you are right when you say we are squandering our money and losing our freedoms to these scum bags, and the people are not going to wake up until it is to late, however when you do see a candidate who you feel is a real American and for American values then by all means contribute what you can to his campaign, and also talk to your fellow Americans and try to convince them to do the same, also , try to convince them that they don't lose their vote by voting for a man that don't win, they only lose their vote when they vote for someone thy know will not represent them, we have had that for so long most Americans don't realize it when some one is for them, good luck and keep plugging we will make a difference.

I think it's obvious. It's only Repubs and Dems that get the millions of dollars in campaign contributions (usually from corporations). It is they that place these politicians in the voters faces.

Americans will not and will continue to refuse to wake up to this. That's just too bad.

Because WE'RE guilty of the SAME crimes as the people we put into Office. Real "change" frightens us...-so it's better the "devil we know...-than the devil we don't..." -As long as they're "moral"- they're good enough to run the Country. No other "qualifications" are necessary. :(
