El Salvador does indeed have only one area code, 503.

That will be changing in the near future, as getting a phone line is much easier, and cell phones are very inexpensive. More people, now more than ever, have phones in their homes.

There is a proposed extra area codes for cell phones, but as of yet, it is not in effect.

To call El Salvador, you have to dial: + 503 + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.

To call using a Prepaid Phone Card (with savings up to 95%!), follow the dialing instructions below:
Dial the Access Number
Enter your PIN Number
Enter the number you wish to dial:
Country exit code (00 or 011) + 503 + Area Code + Number you wish to call
Ex: For calling New York from the UK: Dial 00 + 1 + 212 + phone number

503 is the area code for all of the country. There are no city codes yet. Dial the international access code for the country you are calling from, + 503 + the local number.
