Now that's just being ignorant, and stereotyping people who listen to Metal.

So my assumption is that you do not respect Satan but merely god itself. It is simply revolting for the fact that everyone knows everything has to have a balance.
Life, karma, fate; everything forms a balance whether you try to escape from it.
Metal is fine, the worse it could get is the kid gets deaf from the music *laughs*. Let me pose this to you: WHICH child in the 21th century would be sane or obedient enough to check out the lyrics? Does Satan play a part for the lyrics? I've heard people selling their souls to the devil for rock and roll, had a good laugh over that because most metal bands takes DRUGS instead of worshipping the devil and that's when the mind goes wild and they start getting weird songs.
Just don't stereotype and such and not care about such stuff. *Grabs a gun* :)

Sorry mate, but you've got all your details WRONG. Very wrong.
All the "dark" stuff you see from metal is imagery, pal. It's not taken seriously (by most), don't be so ignorant. I'm sick of people being so blatantly ignorant about metal. You need to do some research man, quick, before you embarass yourself further.
If you're not smart enough to take metal songs with "dark" lyrics with a grain of salt, then you'll never understand metal.
Death metal bands that have gory lyrics aren't trying to advocate evil. They're simply expressing the realism of mortality and our existence through the art medium of metal. Nihilistic views in metal are simply an expression of self, and not of "devil worshipping". Satanism is present, but in the minority, but this has to do with individual, not the music. Sure, there are the true black metal bands that hold some "dark" beliefs, but even in metal these guys are a minority, as is the case in all of society.
In fact, most metalheads don't take the imagery in metal seriously. You think Ozzy Osbourne takes his "dark" imagery seriously? He's a christian for crying out loud.
The dark imagery simply stemmed from the fact that quite a while ago, in the 80's, metal bands wanted to distance themselves from the mainstream, so their music wouldn't become tainted by the mainstream. It was a subtle way of scaring away the ignorant, like yourself.
A lot of metalheads look in metal lyrics and try to dissect the ideologies put forth. Nihilism is an important factor, but there is nothing inherently EVIL when you really dig to the core of metal lyrics. At the end of the day, all you will see are some simple ideologies and ideas that have been expressed as a form of art, and if you choose to believe them so be it. But I will repeat, there really is nothing evil when you get to the heart of metal lyrics (except black metal, but even there you could argue that what they preach is not exactly "evil").
Rap, on the other hand, DOES advocate what it preaches. And in it's case, it seriously spreads messages about killing, stealing, debauchery, crime, etc. At least the pure, less commercial forms do. Now I'm not idiotic enough to say rap is EVIL, but to say metal is worse is stupid.

I can definetly see what your saying but if you actually listened to a lot of Metal and different rock you would understand that the lyrics are taken the wrong way and don't always mean what they sound like.Suicide solution by Ozzy Osbourne is a song written about his friend that committed suicide yet people were taking it as Ozzy is telling them to go jump off a bridge because that's what the lyrics sounded like.Ozzy who talks about praying to satan is a beliver in Christ and he has a crusifix on every wall of every room and on his neck.He was singing about those things because it was being a rebel and he wanted to do things that were unheard of just like Manson, except Manson really is a freak and belives those things he sings about. That's why I don't like him and don't listen to his garbage.
I'm not one to constantly bash rap for it's songs, I just don't like it.I think it's a bunch of garbage singing about shooting each other and some acting on it.But like I said I don't like rap so my opinion on that doesn't count.
What DOES bother me is when they have women doing everything under the sun I these videos and they use a certain word begining with an N like it's no big deal.If it's so much like poetry as they say they should be able to rap without it.

I don't want to be mean but what your saying is wrong...metal is not about worshipping the devil or anything like that, it's the way of expressing all of what we feel and sometimes is just because we find those words more easy to put in a song than others...but metal, death metal or black metal is not about Satan is just the way music is made this days...and if people worship the devil is because they want to not because the bands we listen inspire us to do so....i understand what your trying to say but think about it those who killed them self they must of had their reason. I don''t think that people that commit suicide do it because they give their soul to Satan probably its because they couldn't take it anymore and they decide to end their life's. So reconsider what you have said because there are many christian bands out there or are they too worshipping the devil. sometimes what a band s trying to say is that to follow the devil is the worst thing you can do and it's best not to..but it's not always about the devil the bands are sing about, but of us and how we really are.An about the demons within us

I have listened to a lot of heavy metal/hard rock. Hate to be the one to burst your little stereo typical bubble hon, but there is very little satanism in it. Sex, drugs, sex, and more sex are predominant themes. And you know music doesn't make anybody do anything. All those things are inside the person doing them already and because most parents don't want to admit their failures it is much easier to point an accusing finger at Ozzy or Marilyn Manson.

A lot of metal goes in that direction, but the stuff I listened to in the 70s - Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Montrose - was basically the soundtrack for teenagers who wanted to feel a little more empowered and/or block out the things that were bothering them.
Also, I think Christian metal is wrong. The hard beat doesn't put you in the kind of loving, caring frame of mind that you need to practice your Christianity. Good metal is a nice escape, but it shouldn't be your primary avenue of worship.
So I do kind of agree with you. I used to listen to Holy Hubert on the radio and he quoted some guy at UC-Berkley who said that the beat of rock'n'roll is synchronized with the nervous system of people and drives them insane.

First of all, that's a terrible stereotype to make. The reason Columbine happened was not because of Marilyn Manson and Rammstein as many parents thought, but it was because no one would listen to the kids, and so they chose to kill to be heard.
A lot of metal can talk about darker subjects, sure, but I'd rather hear about that then 'Buy a Drank' or whatever that popular song out today is.
The world today might be going to destruction, but that's individual problems of people, not music.

First this is not a question, this a comment which only feeds into stereo types. Get over yourself.
Second most metal bands that are around today are christian bands-like "as i lay dying, Norma jean, Demon Hunter, underoath, in this moment, killswitch engage, and many Many others.
Try getting some information on a subject before spoutting off like a uneducated lemming.

First off let me say that I listen to metal and hip-hop, as long as it is original and thought out. I don't like the pointless crap both genres try to pass off as music (examples- Linkin Park, 50 Cent).
Most of my friends listen to both genres as well. None of us dress up like vampires/zombies, nor do we dress up like pimps/gang members.
My friends and I do not worship Satan. Most of my friends are Christians and a couple of us are Buddhists. And, I think you'll find that there are actually very few Devil Worshiping bands out there anyway. Some of the biggest names in metal are Christian. Soulfly, one of the heaviest bands, dedicates every album to god.
As for hip-hop catching all the heat, it is just because the majority of people out there are listening to hip-hop. It is in the spot light more now days so it is going to be noticed more. In the late 80s and early 90s, metal caught a lot of heat as well.
Both genres ARE ART, and as such they have they right to express themselves as they see fit. They are just expressing their freedom of speech, as you and I are doing now. I think that there are good and bad people out there and they will do what they want regardless of what kind of music they decide to listen to.

This is completely a stereotype. its like saying that anyone who listens to gangster rap is black and walks into the ghetto holding a pistol sideways and shoots enemy gangs. Just like that stereotype, yours is just as wrong. Sure, there is some devil worshipping death metal, but its not all heavy metal. All this comes down to is just that you don't know what you're talking about.
