There could be some confusion with what power setting your actually editing. Does it respond differently when it's plugged in? I don't think it's a broken lcd. I really think your just not setting it correctly. Otherwise I would think it's a software problem, not a hardware problem. Keep messing with the settings.

sorry to break it to you, but it looks like you need a new display. The back light does fail and this is a typical failure........it will come on and then turn off.

If your system is not under warranty, I suggest finding a "broken" laptop (SAME EXACT BRAND AND MODEL!) on eBay........confirm that the back light works....if they turn it on and they can see the screen for at least 10 minutes, it's good.........buy it and find a techie friend to swap the display..The display is on with 4 hinge screws and a ribbon cable....I've done these in the past when I worked at a repair facility.......it is literally a 15 minutes repair.........

if the laptop is in warranty, get it sent for warranty repair.

check your screen saver settings. Make sure hibernation s off. it is probably not the FL Inverter (back light) they tend to go out all at once.

Maybe the back light or inverter board. try to run with VGA port, if fine that mean the LCD problem. If you want to fix it, send to us at: www.laptopsprofessional.com. cheap and fast service.
