Is it a british thing? What does it mean?

It sounds very famous five. It means what are you up to, but I haven't heard anyone say it in my lifetime. Although the wizard world does seem timeless and not as modernised as ours, so Tonks saying, 'wassup' or something seems ridiculous. On the other hand I've not heard anyone say 'wassup' since the Budweiser commercials.

It's her way of saying hi. Even if it's British not all British people talk the same(I mean people of different parts of the country).

She means it as a greeting. What she means is 'What's up?' or 'Hello' or 'Hi, how are you?'
That sort of thing.

well it is obvoious it is a greeting or then she wouldn't say it when the say each othe, but I think maybe it mean watch out will saying hi at the same time
