Its bloody painful, sometimes they need to pull a few teeth. but its well worth it, for a nice set of nashers at the end of it all. Thankfully programmes like ugly betty and the like have helped make them a bit more popular. My daughter is getting hers later this year and shes already picked the colour she wants. Back in my day, they really were like minuature train tracks. :) goodluck!! I hope it all goes well.

OK, it's not that bad.
1]They rarely have to pull teeth, and if so, you would know already.
2] Putting them on is uncomfortable, but not really painful. They usually start to get sore later, so take someibuprofen or Tylenol right after, and every six hours for the first day or two. [ Make sure you have some at your school clinic for days after future appointments - call and ask how to do that. ]
3] eat soft food for those few days.
4] as time passes the re-adjusting usually gets less uncomfortable. Get some Anbesol to use for back-up [ adult strength, not infant ]
5] take really good care of your teeth while your braces are on -
your smile will be beautiful when they are done!

I answered your other question. But I'll answer this one.
You will not be put asleep.
First off, they'll put some nasty tasting stuff on your teeth to clean them.
Then they'll put the brackets on. Which is painless. Then they'll put the wires in. Done. It might feel weird at first. But you'll get use to it. But have some tylenol in handy. It HURTS A LOT about 2 hours after they put them on. You won't be able to eat anything hard, a strict yogurt and soup diet until it's not sensitive anymore. But after 2 weeks or so, it won't hurt. Maybe a little bit. What helped for me is to bite down hard and the pain will go away, but after you stop biting down it hurt more so I wouldn't. Lol.

umm, you will then have braces on ur teeth, and no they dont put you down for something that dosen't hurt! But your teeth will be sore so use Advil. and go ahead and eat hard foods, i know it will hurt but you will get over the pain faster than u will with just eating soft foods. try bacon :P stupid. but it worked for me

Well your teeth will get straighter. lol. but the day after, your teeth will hurt REALLY bad. dont worry though, braces saved my teeth. i love my teeth now. though i do wear a retainer now, and i dont wear it during the day even though i am supposed to, it hurts soime times. But all i can tell you is listen to your ortho, wear your rubberbands if you get then, and dont eat things you aren't supposed to. they will ruin your teeth and it will take longer to fix them. GOOD LUCK!

they just glue them on your teeth (which doesnt hurt) and then they will attach the wires, which pulls a little. then you will be able to pick your elastic color.
it doesn't hurt when they put them on, but your mouth will be sore when you get home.. keep some advil nearby : ]

it is sooo worth it though..
ive been through it all.
good luck
