No, an excuse for extremists in birth-control e.g -- actually, mismanagement in food resources. there are places on Earth that are congested -- but vast areas where there's almost nobody. the technology is there, (Science Fiction so far?) people can live anywhere -- Deserts, the Oceans, the Arctic. agree with Lucia, Justin -- maybe these are the serious answers; to ~not-Bob: excuse me, "SCIENTISTS say..." -- say what? -- put there just to bolster something, but unclear anyway. [China THE biggest, population-wise, as far as I know; that if everyone there jumped the Earth would move (is that what you mean?) a myth.] Ridiculous a bit as it stands -- New York City (almost, population of all of Canada!) or Mexico City -- person there would say Yeh, sure seems crowded -- while in Amazon, nobody there in 100 square-miles. True -- population increased, let's say, 3X in 100 years -- while food production has increased maybe 5X. [these figures hypothetical, can check elsewhere -- just trying to show ratio.] People can migrate, go to less-crowded places -- and make a new start in places which incidentally have cleaner resources -- if there's a POLITICAL WILL (& if U.N., in certain areas, lived up to its mandate! Instead of being just a self-serving and stagnant bureaucracy) -- In food-production & water etc., it's a matter of efficiency compared to the status quo, that is, incredible & shameful amount of waste.

Well, probably... Scientists said that if everyone in China jumps, China would sink...And to think that China is the third largest country in the world...A lot more countries are over-populated like Philippines, etc.
