An excuse is used to defend an action one has done, whether it be "the traffic was so bad" when one is late for work (when the person may or may not have left with ample time to get to work), or "I forgot" when mother asks the person why he/she didn't do a chore or his/her homework, or whatever.

The truth is taking responsibility for whatever a person does, not necessarily offering the reasons unless mother/boss/teacher/friend specifically asks. The truth is usually harder to state than an excuse.

Good one. You could tell somebody that you were late because you got pulled over and the next day a flat tire. It's the truth but somebody else will say its an excuse. I guess it all depends on how the person your explaining it to takes it. NO? hmmm. Good question.

You have to remember an excuse...just like a lie. The truth stays with you forever.
