You always have the right to call the cops for disrupting the peace, especially since fireworks aren't supposed to be launched after July 5th (to the best of my knowledge). Instead of calling 9-1-1 you should call your local police station and ask them if it's appropriate to call 9-1-1.

Fireworks are illegal here but sometimes hear a pop, then on 4th of July night there are a lot because the police are busy at the park where the public fireworks display is, always a huge crowd there until 11 or so at night. I thought I heard a couple of pops, but could have been my neighbor working on his cars.

Depends what your local ordinances are. Many cities have put limits on when fireworks can be used. The city I live in in NW Indiana has put a limitation on them from 5 pm - 2 hours after dusk up until July 9, and after that they're not allowed until New Years' Eve and Day.

Fireworks like that, if you are in fact talking about actual industrial fireworks, are not for civilian use and are dangerous. For example-I work in a hospital and had a kid come in because he and his friends were horsing-around with real fireworks and he got hit in the stomach. Thank God he was even alive to tell the tale, but it wasn't pretty. Someone could get hurt if you don't make a phone call.

How would they set something on fire with aerial shells? ('real fireworks') they go up hundreds of feet and explode, I don't see how that effects the trees houses power line etc. Firework's laws are oppressive enough, don't make it worse by calling the cops on some guys having fun. Besides, the cops really don't care about fireworks, here in Washington there's a big Indian reservation with guys with orange flags and signs reading 'illegal fireworks, next right!', and the cops don't care, if you called them they probably wouldn't do much other than say 'uhh yeah we'll look into it.'
