It all depends on which type of humor your looking for. If your looking for quick, fast paced humor you gotta go with Robin Williams. If it's a little slower, more addressing the issues within an issue, then it's George Carlin. If your looking for a overall funny comic who doesn't really fall into just one category, I would say the late and great Richard Jeni.

I would have to say that it is impossible to narrow it down to 1. there are so many good comedians with divers style and humor.....
bill cosby, george carlin, lenny bruce, allen king, philis diller, bob hope, george and gracie, jack benny. I cant even think of some of their names right now....but if you had asked the best 100 comedians it still would be hard to narrow it down to just 100....

Too many to answer the question directly!
Robin Williams is excellent, along with the entire Monty Python team.
My current vote is divided between Gabriel Iglesias and Bobby Collins!
