Athlon X2 64 6000 (3. ghz). I believe that it's silicon compound (not arctic silver) which I believe it's non-conductive. It's the compound that came with my Zalman 9500. Help PLEASE!

Well since he used his fingers, you might as well clean it off and start over, and try to get what spilled over on the side off as well. They make cleaning fluid for this purpose, but if you don't have any, Isopropyl Alcohol will do, with a lint-free cloth.

the outdoors of the cpu and heatsink includes microscopic spots that traps air. Air is a foul conductor of warmth, the thermal compound fills those microscopic holes and boost the conduction of warmth from the cpu to the heatsink and efficiently reducing the cpu's temperature. devoid of the thermal compound the heatsink will nevertheless decrease the cpu's temperature yet would be extra powerful with the thermal compound.

It is nothing to worry about. It is just used to transfer the heat from the CPU to the Heat sink more efficiently.
