I just want a job that starts out making about 50,000 a year. I always hear of people who start out making that or even more!
I knew this girl who started off making 60,000 in PUBLIC RELATIONS!
So, why does everyone say that you start out making 30,000?
I will have a Bachelors in marketing, and then I will have a masters in it as well!

Because while there are exceptions, most entry-level jobs start out at that level (and I have trouble believing someone started out with $60K in public relations with no prior experience; that field is notoriously poorly-paid and I know people with many years of experience who don't make that much). $50K is more than the average accounting graduate is making, and those salaries are considered top of the line. This isn't to say that jobs paying $50K don't exist - look at sales jobs for large corporations. You will have to work your a__ off for it, but you can get it.

By the way, you mention getting a master's, and one of the problems we often run into is that people hear about MBAs at elite schools making huge salaries upon graduation and they expect the same. What the statistics don't tell you is that the average MBA graduate at those elite schools had 6 or 7 years of very impressive experience before they even went back to school - those schools won't let you in with less than 5 years post-bachelor's experience.

A masters can do it for you.

BUT you have to BE SHARP as well.

A friend of mine got his masters and he was making $50 an hour on his first job.

He, in just 4 years, became a VP with Barclays Bank.

Now he's a consultant to half a dozen companies and he as 12 books in print.

And his passion in life is teaching BALLROOM dancing, depsite his COMPUTER masters degree and his BOOKS on CGI/PERL programming!

30,000 is the average entry level, but there are many good jobs out there, they are only more competitive for more pay. Just be agressive and persistent, because you might not suceed on the first try.

.It is definitely not IMPOSSIBLE. Just have confidence in yourself, make sure you have all the knowledge that is needed for the field that you choose, and you will get it, don't stop till you get it. You may have to go over some hurdles on your way, but don't quit
