Maybe this is just me, but I have only gotten one interview on-line. And it was a good thing I carried a copy of my resume because the e-mailed resume had a bunch of ///// %%### on it because of different formatting between their server and my server.
I however have gotten several interviews from companies I found on Careerbuilder.com, Monster.com. and hot Jobs by instead of e-mailing them my resume' I Fax them my resume'. And another way to do it is using the above to locate the companies then going there in person and giving them your resume'.
Problem with sending them resumes on line is no telling what it will look like when they receive it.

I recently read that 77% of people online (about 50% of the US population is online) have used the web to search for a job. I don't know what percentage actually get jobs online, but I know that people do or the job sites would not be in business and perform as well as they do financially.

To get a reply you really have to sell yourself in your cover letter because often companies receive so many applications that it is hard to stand out. Also, make sure your resume is near perfect. Never look at something that could be presented better on your resume and think it doesn't matter - it does, and the gal that figured that out probably got the last job you were waiting to hear back from.

Craigslist.com is fast becoming a great source for jobs, but there are plenty other great sites. I also recommend searching for a job board that serves the industry or local area that you are looking for a job in.
