There is this beetle that comes out in the summer in Torrance, CA ( June - August ) Its pretty small and has a reddish brownish color, and they fly into my house and it drives me nuts! Today i was making a sandwich when i found a beetle in the mayo. Yuck! What is the name of this beetle and how do I get rid of it?

It sounds like a ladybug. They're beneficial. They kill nasty aphids but they won't hurt you or ruin anything in your house. Just use screens on your windows if you don't want bugs in the house - although in the fall, they seem to be able to come in through the walls! http://www.dierinbeeld.nl/animal_files/insects/ladybug/ladybug.jpg

Or it could be a bedbug, in which case you need an exterminator. http://www.nwleics.gov.uk/pest_control/images/bedbug.jpg

I know the ones you are talking about! when I was a little bitty kid my Dad told me they were going to 'get me' if I didn't sit still. I tried very hard, but when one crawled toward me I cried...and I still hate them 47 years later!!!

They are called "oooouuuu -KILL THAT THING!" in my house. :)
