Last one was in 1707, and predictions indicates that it is way overdue to erupt, as he is believed to erupt at about 30 years intervall (before 1707). The eruption is of the flank style, which mean that it explode and create mudflows and can remain in eruption for many weeks if not months. Fatalities during the last eruption were not accounted for, but it used to make a lot of damage, but at the time, they were quite used to it.

If this volcano explode today, it will cause the Japanese economy to shutdown for a long while, since this volcano is quite close to Tokyo.
