These moths are called Indian meal moths. Once you get them in your house they are extremely hard to get rid of and they get into everything. You will find what looks like webs in your flour, cake mixes and bread, among other things I first got them in my house years ago when I had birds. They were in the seed I bought at the pet store. The thing I found that works best are moth traps (you can get them on the internet) They have a lure inside and very sticky walls. The moths are attracted to them and get stuck in them. You will have to use them for a really long time I'm sorry to say. Here is a link to a site that will tell you about them. If you want to know more about them put Indian meal moth into the search and you will find lots of sites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_meal_moth

If the food is a seed mix, then they are harmless seed moths. Very common and harmless. I freeze new bags of seed over night when I get them, and then they are fine (it kills any moths). It doesn't mean the food is bad, in fact it is hard to find any seed mixes that don't contain these.

These moths can be inside contaminated food. Get rid of *EVERYTHING* that's open and in the future, make sure everything is sealed tight. You might want to invest in large plastic containers to store your pet food.

that is the downfall in living in apartments. There are roaches from gross people. Chances are there is someone around you that is not staying clean ,and it comes to your apartment. Landlords suck, because they will send a pest control to spray just a tiny section which just brings the roaches out of their hiding, not kill them. The best thing to do if you don't want chemicals around is to purchase the roach motels. I think stores still sell them. When the motels is full you just throw them away.

They are semi harmless and (i think) come in some foods. i've opened sealed bags with them in it. a temporary fix is to set the food open out in the sun and they go away.

You throw away the bag of dogfood and go and buy a fresh bag..
Or you return the bag to the store if you think that they came w/ the food.

Take it back to the store that you bought it from. Or, dump it and buy new stuff. Whatever you do, don't feed it to your animal!! Common Sense!
