Geez people, if i wanted his nickname to be Nick, thats what it would be...when kids are little they all have y's on their names...Joe is Joey, Rick is Ricky, Tom is Tommy, etc....when he wants to be called Nick, i will do so...until then, answer my question or dont waste my time

Nicky is the boys nickname for Nicholas. But, you might want to consider teaching him the full spelling of his name and let him use the nick name spelling when he is older. It sounds crazy but trust me it will cut down on the confusion when school starts and when you try to teach him the real spelling of his name. A few family members and I went through the same thing with our children and nicknames. Let him learn N-i-c-h-o-l-a-s first. You can still call him Nicky. He will even see Nicholas and sometimes say, "That says Nicky!" and that's okay.
Also.... be sure to use upper case "N" and lower case "icholas" when teaching him to write his name. This will also help when school starts.

Normally the boy's version to spell Nicholas as a nickname, is Nicky. When you add an "i" onto the end, it is thought more as a girl, then a boy. Though this is ultimately the decision of yours and your husband's, but the best recommendation that I can give, is choosing Nicky, for this will lead to no confusion on if it is a boy or a girl, this is judging only by the name.

Its really up to you, I've seen it spelled for boys and girls all three ways so there really isn't a gender specific way. However, personally for me I like it spelled Nicky for a boy. I think its more masculine that way. If you don't like the "y" spell it Nicki, in this way you always have the spelling of the name Nick in there so he wont have to relearn how to spell his name correctly when he's at school and he wants his name to be more maturer and decides to go by Nick instead of Nicky.
Hope this helped some.

Nicky is a boy's nick name and Nicki and Nikki are girl's nick names.

For your first question - go with Nicky if you must. The other two are definitely feminine. Let me just give you a little heads up, though. Changing from Nicky to Nick isn't going to be easy for your son. Once everyone at school knows him as Nicky, they won't want to call him anything else. My son's friend, Danny, is having a hard time switching to Dan. I was stuck with Krissy until college. My youngest son is named Benjamin, and I swore nobody would be allowed to call him Benny. Of course, we called him that as a baby, but as soon as a pre-school teacher called him that, I stopped. We occasionally call him Benny at home, but always introduce him as Ben, so nobody else will call him Benny.

My name is Victoria and my nickname is Vicki, and no one knows how to spell it! They always write Vicky or Vickie - one time I even got Vikki, but I think that particular person was just trying to spite me.

I would suggest Nicky because it's what most people would think of when they go to spell it. However, if this is for a boy you might want to go with just Nick - it's a little more masculine sounding and he might be more accepting of it later on in life.

I think Nicky is the correct way to spell it. My stepmom's name is Nikki so I see it spelled that way and think of a girl. Then there's that movie "Little Nicky" and I think of a boy. So, ultimately it's your choice, but I would go with Nicky.

Nikki and Nicki to me are female versions.

So, I suppose Nicky, or Nick. Because he will someday out grow the "y"
