Your question is not clear because:
The points can be on a straight line and on the line itself, it can be in different direction ie. It can be ABCorCBAorBAC like that. Again , it need not be colenear points. It can be anywhere on the plane If it is on a straight line and they are in the same direction like:
A B C
3 5
So definitely AC will be equal to 8
Hence,
AB:AC=3:8 ....Ans

the answer is 3:8

working

A______B________________C
3 5

in the line AC i have kept AB as 3 and BC as 5 that is as per the question AB:BC is 3:5

the value of AC as per the diagram is 3+5 = 8

thus the ratio of AB:AC is 3:8

Since you have not said where in the plane C lies the ratio can be anywhere between:

AB:AC = 3:8
If A, B, and C are collinear with B in the middle.
to
AB:AC = 3:2
If A, B, and C are collinear with A in the middle.
