I would like to know how come they call the America Cup like that, when it does not take place in American soil.

I wasn't going to bother answering this but you do know that there is a Central America and a South America in addition to North America which is where Mexico, the USA, and Canada are don't you? Or is this just a B.S. question? You can't be serious with this question. Shame on the education system if you are. I think you're just trying to get a rise out of people here. Well ha ha! You've succeded. Now stop being a troll!

Oh my! Wow!!!!! I don't know if I should take you seriously! I have not up to this point responded to anyone on the internet for the 11 years I've been using the service, but felt compelled to answer your question. America spans North, Central, and South. Though the United States has monopolized (U.S. English spelling) the use of the word America, it is actually the United States of America. America is a land mass that consists of many countries. You are free to go to a map and look. Copa America is called what it is, a tournament taking place in most countries that are part of the American soil. Please pass this on to others in your circle and educate.

The entire hemisphere is America, not just the US.

As for the America's Cup, it is named after the first boat to win it, America, in 1851, not after the country that defended it for over 130 years, before Dennis Connor pissed it away.

Every person living in south america is an AMERICAN too, not only the people living in the US.

In the Spanish language, anyone from the western hemisphere is an American (i.e. from the Americas). They would call us North Americans.

Often, Spanish speaking people feel slighted that we use this term only in describing U.S. nationals. It is regrettable that you asked this question on a public forum as it will only compound their impression of us as geographically ignorant.

I've always loved how South and Central are never counted as part of the Americas anymore :) Ever heard of countries BESIDES the United States?

Dude, your ignorance is appalling.
America is the name of a continent formed by several
countries; this one (the US), is just one of them, do you
have enough brains to understand this?.
We are all Americans!!!.
That's why it's called Copa America.
