Last bike I had was a 1973 Triumph which was a nightmare. Was thinking of a small Suzuki like the 650 Savage.

Stick with any japanese product....I had a ducati-spent $800 anually for service. Have a harley currently-cheap to own and I love it-but it lacks in performance. Just sold a 97 gsxr 600-NEVER left me stranded-and I can't say that for either the ducati or the harley. And the one guy who was bragging about the bmw-almost all bike shops will stock stuff for a jap bike. But you'll be waiting days for bmw parts unless you go to a dealership with the $109/hr price tag. Don't get me wrong I drove a $62k bmw for three years. Best driving car I have EVER driven but too many reliability issues.

Suzuki is more reliable than your old triumph. If you meant to ask (in general) what the most reliable motorcycle is, I would say any modern Japanese 4 stroke,4 cylinder motorcycle. Just remember that if you neglect to maintain any motorcycle, they wont be reliable.

Skip the pretenders and buy a BMW bike. The horizonal 2 Cyl engine from world war II to now is the standard of durability. You will not go wrong with a BMW. Trust me BMW motor lasts as long as a car engine.... See you with 150,000 miles on that bike. And luggage racks and hard bags only BMW will do. Have you seen the BMW helmets? No other Bike manufacture does it like BMW.

Yeah, the whole "Harley is junk" thing is really old. Back when AMF was the controller of the company I will agree, Harley's were junky. Since Willie G bought the company back and started producing the (back then) Evolution engine, and the twin cam(of today) they make a great bike. My cousin has a 1995 Softail custom with 35 thousand miles with NO problems. Now, to the question at hand. For absolute dependability. If you still are convinced that we dumb Americans can't build a reliable vehicle like the guy above me, buy a Honda. I have rode their ATVs for years, and I have seen Gold Wings that have 200,000 miles on them and still run great.
