I have been an on again off again smoker.
I have been successful with quiting twice, but
anytime I am extremely stressed I am right back
to those nasty things.

Unfortunately, your folks have to WANT to quit
cause it is the HARDEST thing in the world to do.
See if you can find a motivational reason for them
to want to quit. Health, or maybe make a deal
with them... I don't know how old you are but for
instance if you are still in school, you can barter with
them for good grades???? If I get all A's and get
my future in order, you will start the quit smoking process.
Would that work????
Good luck. and it is awesome you care so much about your parents.

You should feel proud you care about your parents and their health. Take them to a doctor because the medical industry may have a medicine or idea that would help them stop smoking and living a healthier lifestyle. Tell them you love them and you want them to enjoy life in a new way. Inform them of second hand smoking too, that might be affecting you or someone else in your family.

Good luck

I used to smoke. This sounds really horrible, but it's effective. I would go online and look at pictures of cancer patients. It's so sad, and definitely made me think twice about giving in to temptation and having another cigarette. Try printing some out and putting them next to their cigarettes every day until they stop. Sometimes even parents need some tough love.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do besides making your room a smoke free zone. Smoking is an addiction and as with any addiction the person has to want to quit to even stand a chance. Its so expensive too.

tell them that they will die if they don't stop. Maybe show them some gory pictures of what happens to people who smoke. Some statistics... Tell them how you love them so much and you don't want them to die young so they should stop. etc.... Remind them of how much money they waste on cigarettes and what they could do with all the money they waste. Show them an annual amount. Like, "You could have an extra $5000 a year if you stop" or however much it really is.. Good luck :)

Put gun powder in their cigars or cigarettes and when the smokes blow up they'll be off the stuff forever!!

Actually plz don't do this. That would be just as dangerous as smoking.

I suggest looking up some antisomking websites for some ideas. Wish you good luck.

You need to get a couple of things. It sounds crazy, but they need to keep their mouth and hands busy. 1. Get some mint flavored stim-u-dent toothpicks, in the dental section of the store. 2. arthritis exercise ball to squeeze in the hand. And, when at work, when everybody goes out for their 10min. smoke break. They go with them for a fresh-air break. Plus they themselves have to want to quit. Life is too precious. lol.

maybe you should try just sitting down with them and talking to them and look up all of the facts on the internet and telling them all of that stuff! But remember it is REALLY hard to quit smoking

Keep being supportive and reminding them how they are hurting their bodies- and yours! Ask them to smoke outside or in one particular room that you can stay out of.

I am also a smoker with kids that hate it and I really appreciate their reminders and requests!
