also i totally understand that some "liberal" politicians don't live up to the definition, but you cant judge all of us by a few of us. admittedly, i do tend to judge conservatives the way you judge liberals- its human nature to be very oneminded. but personally, its my goal in life to live up to the definition of liberal. i guess we all just have to try and accept that we arent going to change each others minds by ranting, so sry if i kind of did a bit. everybody seems so prejudiced against liberals, though! we're not that bad!

It never ceases to amaze me how backwards these conservatives are. They honestly think that liberals should be tolerant of the intolerant. When we see a black man being lynched should we tolerate it? When an economic system is designed to provide 1 million high paying positions with 120 million workers, should we tolerate such a feudalist system? Conservatives insist that capitalism only works if most people are poor. Doesn't sound like a very good system to me. In fact, it sounds unAmerican.

Well, you got off to a rough start with "to the liberal haters out there", what's that all about? This is a nice definition, and like everything thing else...great on paper, but it's not reality. Have you been paying attention to the liberal leadership? I certainly wouldn't call them tolerant, or broad minded. While I enjoy my freedom, I would prefer a leader that keeps my *** from being blown up, at least then I could enjoy my freedom. Distributing wealth more evenly, what in the hell is that? This is HILLARY....why don't we just all quit our jobs, hell your type of government will just take care of our needs, right??? You want to breathe for us too? Thanks

First of all, I don't "hate" anyone - why on earth give someone I dislike that much control in my life?

Secondly, the reason I dislike *most* Libs is because they don't practice what they preach. They bleat about tolerance and diversity, but only support it when it promotes THEIR positions. Don't believe me? Just look at how INVITED Conservative speakers are treated on colleges around the country.

I have to confess - I know a lot of Liberals, and have some as very good friends, but tolerant? That's a stretch.

Here's the challenge: there's beliefs and values and then there's the actual living out or practicing those beliefs and values.

Succinctly put, talk is cheap.

I think the American public's cynicism with politicians comes from this contradiction between words and deeds.

Really, it's no different than it ever was (see the Lincoln-Douglas debate if you doubt this) but now it's far more instantaneous and people are far less tolerant.

Look at the posts in this thread. Most are pretty shallow, knee-jerk responses.

If we cannot engage in thoughtful, tolerant, open dialogue, we are doomed as a democratic society.

i do no longer think of you may classify me as a "liberal," and admittedly, I choose that all of us handle our fellow human beings as in basic terms that: human beings. i'm additionally a truthful Christian, who takes to heart Jesus' teachings. That pronounced, whilst some human beings make outrageous comments in the guise of "questions," i could ask for links to the source. it truly is in basic terms perfect, given the relative ease with which possible returned up their each and every now and returned stupid remark. does no longer you settle?

I'm betting that you see NO **facts** nor sensible responses that can defend the neocons' bashing of the egalitarian and sensible social liberals.

To "Blondey" -- You need to lear the huge difference between FISCAL (i.e, tax-and-spend irresponsibly) liberals, and fair-minded SOCIAL liberals. They are apples and oranges. And the question deals with the latter.

I wouldn't dislike you folks but you aren't the definition of the word! There is Nothing TOLERANT in any liberal answer/question I have ever seen on this website. I would like to like you folks but you're simply not very pleasant!!!!!

Now if only liberals in America fit the definition...I don't hate liberals, my best friend is a liberal.

It's not what you (or anyone else) SAYS you are. It's what you DO that defines you. Tolerant of different views? Have you looked around this board? The key words in that definition are 'redistribute wealth more evenly'. I think I speak for most of America when I say you can 'redistribute my wealth' when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.
