Drive 'A' is the Floppy which is discontinued for sometime in computers, although a portable USB Drive A is available in case someone wants to use floppy.
Currently people are using portable USB flash drive to store/transfer and save data which is a big replacement of Drive A.

The port is usually 0x3F0-3F7H. If you are talking about windows or dos, then the drive is usually A: for the first floppy, b: for the second. On linux, the Floppy device is usually /dev/fd, where x is the number. It can mounted anywhere. Not sure about mac, but I would imagine OS X is the same as linux.
