Do you really believe that God came downstairs and one day started modeling some mud and said this is cute let me bring it to life and blew some air into it?? Come on!! And he made two women and only one man why? Lilith was the first and she told god forget it! LOL, Silky

If you include Lilith, that makes Man the original sinner, not the Woman. I know this doesn't answer your question, aside that -no- I don't think Adam&Eve is real (long live homo herectus!), but here's a resumed story:

God created man & woman (Adam & Lilith), he took them to live in the hearthly paradise of Eden, were they ruled over all other creatures. He told them: "live here happily, remember that you have been created in my image equally". Adam and Lilith lived there in bliss for a time.

Then came the day Adam wanted to take Lilith. Adam had grown fond of ruling over all other of God's creations within Eden, so he told Lilith to lay under him as he took her, but Lilith refused: "Why should I lay under you? God has created us equally to watch over Eden, thus you must treat me equally." But Adam grew angry at the words. He violented (beat) Lilith and threw her on the ground where he took her by force.

Once it was done, Lilith ran from Eden to escape into the desert.

Still angry, Adam called upon the Lord. God descended from the Heavens into Eden. "Where is your companion, where is Lilith?" God asked. "She ran into the desert. Lord, please send your angels to bring her back."

But God had seen all from the Heavens, knowing Adam was hidding his crime. "I shall send 3 angels to search for Lilith. But they will not force her to return, only warn her that if she does not, she will condemn 1000 of her children to die per day". On these enigmatic words, God left Eden.

Lilith had wandered from the desert to the shore of the ocean. The waters were dark, and there laid hidden the Fallen. He had seen the happenings in Eden, so He assumed the form of a man, pleasing to the eye and appeasing of presence.

The angels caught up with Lilith, who was dirtied by the sands and burned by the Sun, and pleaded with her to return to Eden. Disgust for it had grown within Lilith who refused to obey. Michael was amongst the three angels and spoke to her: "If you remain outside the earthly paradise, know that you condemn 1000 of your children to die per day, that is the Lord's warning. Return now to Eden and never again shall you come to harm". Horrified by the thought of loosing 1000 of her children per day, yet terrified of returning to Eden, she chased the angels away, so she could reflect upon this.

The angels gone, the Fallen One stepped from the darkness and walked to Lilith, who did not know him. He comforted her and showed her his kingdom he had built within the darkness. He asked her to become his queen and bear his children. There she would no longer face Adam and be free of the Lord's threat and the harshness of the desert. So Lilith followed him into the ocean and disappeared from history, only the return at the End of All Things.

It's starting from that point that all tales of Adam&Eve begin, no matter which tradition you follow (jewish, christian or other). But they all say the same thing: Adam got bored in Eden, so he asked God for a(another?) companion. Then God either cuts him in half of rips out one of his ribs and creates Eve.

Maybe it was a form of punishment. Plus, it would give a logical explanation why God planted that forbidden tree in the middle of the Garden, to see if Adam would betray his trust again AND if he would admit it (which he doesn't, Eve is the only one doing the talking and at no point does Adam takes responsibility for eating his share of the fruit).

The story of Lilith continues after that, but it's a bit blurry since most of the text concerning her have disappeared. We have few texts and only a handful of oral tradition to go with it. Apparently, Lilith follows Satan (the Fallen) into Hell, where the Devil nurtures her disgust for humanity by showing her all the attrocities mankind is capable of. He teaches her witchcraft so she becomes a "proper" queen (Not part of God's banishment of Adam&Eve, she keeps her immortality). He goads her into bearing his children, so he may have agents to walk freely on Earth, but everytime the sun rises, 1000 of these half-demons/hald-human dies. That was God's true warning, when He said she had to return to Eden. Eventually, she goes insane and becomes as much a horrible creature than any other demon.

Lilith goes to Babylon at some point.

She's also supposed to be the whore ridding a beast with the heads of all the great kings she corrupted at the end of the world, standing at the right of Satan, while the anti-christ stands to his left.

One last thing, in ancient hebrew, the terms "rib" and "side" where the same word. So, Eve was probably created from Adam's "side" (Half of him), not his rib. Eventually, oral history deformed the use of the word and turned it into rib.

It's been proven that the arabic expression "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle" is actually "... a rope to go through...", because the ancient herbrew words "camel" and "rope" where the same, used in different contexts, since rope used to be made out of camel's hair.

Well, going by the Book, and the pun is intended, Lilith is supposed to be some kind of "disobedient woman" that Adam didn't like, so he asked God for something more "user friendly". Hence, Eve.

Now, I've never been inclined to actually believe the Genesis as something that should be taken literally. Do you know that there are a bunch of so-called scientists that have come with a recent theory to adjust all we know about Earth beginnings in just SIX FREAKIN' DAYS?

So anyways, I prefer to take all of Adam and Eve's cute little tale as a metaphor, Lilith taking part of the smart mouthed and independent woman that refused to submit to social pressure.

About Lilith being a demon... as I understand, even tho I can't quote the source, Lilith in fact became a demon, after being shunned by Adam, Eve, God and all those priests and people that desperately needed some slave work to wash their clothes. Which in real life justified the satanization of smart women that refused to give his wombs for the sake of human reproduction on the wonderful context of having the chance to be punching bags, sexual objects and property of some heavy bearded, sweat smelling and gawd anointed, yet very masculine and wise man. That eventually evolved in the figure of the witch, that was so popular during the Dark Ages, mainly for lighting and heat purposes.

That is not what happen between God a Lilith, Oh yes Lilith was real and God did punish her but that is another story.. Also Jewish Girls even today wear Signet to protect them from the wrath of Lilith... Thanks to the Catholic Church and Its Popes pages, chapters and book are missing that covered that story about Lilith, are missing from the bible.... And yes God did take some earth and created man and woman and science has proved that beyond the shadow of doubt..... Also man obeying woman instead of God is why we were kicked out of the garden of Eden... Before you start praising Lilith you should find out what God did to her for not obeying God... And you will know that she paid a very high price............. And perhaps it is not so funny after all is said and done.......................... And something else is funny and that is no matter what you may believe about God it will not change the truth one iota......... .....................................................

Adam and Eve? as real as any story out there as far as i can tell, but still a story - just like all our ideas about life and the universe....

No, I don't believe in that story. Even though I'm a Catholic & believe in God, I consider that story as a metaphor, not to be taken literally, just like other mythologies. In the simple way, there are thousands of stories regarding human creation by god in this world, with their own versions, why should I take this one to be the most make sense and the only one true thing?

Everyone agreed that god exists, but not everyone agreed with a single explanation about what and who god is? If you want to understand god, why should you hear only 1 opinion about god?

The "Cliff Notes" version is that God made Adam and Lilith out of the dust of the earth and gave them both free will. However, Lilith refused to lie beneath Adam and/or be subservient to him. In utter defiance of God, she ran off to the seashore to mate with demons (presumably so she could be on top). Thus, God made Eve from Adam's rib. (Loosely quoted) "Not from his foot, so she would be beneath him. Not from his head, so she would be above him. But from his rib, so she would be of him and stand by his side, equal to him."

Isn't two women Every man's fantasy? this just proves that the notion went that far back. Anyways I thought Lilith was Satan's wife or sister.

Coincidentally my Boston Terrier is named Lilith Madison and she turned 1 today. Just thought I'd throw that in

p.s. the whole mud thing makes more sense then atheists give it credit, Humans are made mostly of water... like mud, and varying amount of minerals.... like the dirt in mud.

Before I answer your question, I want to admire you for the qualities and maturities of all your questions. Unless some one has an independent minded like you it will be hard to answer some of your questions. They are deep and thoughtful. Please keep it up!

Having said that, let me go to your question. If you believe in creation, right or wrong the answer is just as you put it. However, if you are evolutionist the answer is quiet the opposite. For example, according the British naturalist, Darwin, he believe we humans came from Chimpanzee (Monkey). Further more, scientist discovered that any living things including human-beings came out (developed) from the smallest particles of a substance called matter (atoms, protons, neutrons, etc..). Those small particles of elements after a millions years of evolutionary changes, they reached in a shape of Chimpanzee. Then, subsequently after another millions years of change and development we became humans.
For your information, the first human skeleton was found in Ethiopia fifteen years ago. They call her "Lucy". According Archaeologists and anthropologists, Lucy's skeleton It has around 2.5 millions years of age. I think, this Skeleton, believed to be the first human ancestors will come to Texas Natural Museum for exposition. I think, it is enough for today's question, Silky. Thank you.

I don't believe in religion so as for the whole "on the 5th day he created" is just a bunch of hopes and fantasy for some. The 2 women for every man would be nice and Lilith to!!!!!!

It's now not unhealthy however why did you difference the tale? She used to be Adams first spouse Isaiah 34:14 within the Jerusalem Bible calls her by way of title,different Bibles name her Screech Owl,Night Hag,Night Jar,Lamaia and many others,But she used to be created from Dirt identical to Adam however refused to be submissive( rated-R to X)and stated the ineffable title of God and flew away. God despatched two Angels to get her however she refused to go back. There are reports approximately her,The Jews have it of their writings someplace too......however she is a Demon who kills infants of their writings SHE Did Exist in Religion It's within the Kabbalah-Creation of Man

supposedly lilith was made of the garbage and wate of eden not the same way as eve or she was adams twin but anyways she became like a she demon thing and mated with either satan or humans or demons making really evil offspring angels were sent to kill like a thousand a day or something, but lilith is reminisint of earlier religons bird goddess and snake goddess as in babalon and such I belive in lilith more than the other story though
