When was the world ever innocent? Even in the hunter-gatherer days, people watched out for lions and snakes, knowing fully that a wrong move could make you lunch for some animal. Storms and earthquakes took people's lives occasionally. Even neighboring tribes could be a threat.
These days, people get nervous when the air conditioning goes out or they can't get a good signal on their cell phone. I'd say we're more innocent than we were, not less.

The world lost it's innocence in the Garden of Eden when Eve took a bite out of the forbidden fruit and then Adam followed suit and took his bite. Then they both blamed it on someone else. Sin entered the world when Adam ate. Thence innocence was lost.

Like it used to be? The world was never innocent. Well maybe like thousands of years ago but nobody living now knows what that's like.

Things change in every season and a new spring is born.
The people of the world were never innocent, nor will they ever be.
The innocences of humans is the least thing to even consider,

Truthfully, I am not so sure I want it back...it caused so many dreadful problems, especially with girls. When gals thought of themselves as damaged goods if they had sex with a guy they loved, when these same gals were talked about as sl u ts by their own friends, ...nope, no thanks. We were all babes in the woods by comparison. Personally, I think gals gave up too much to the boys...roles seem to be reversed today. The gals chase the boys, will do anything to get a boyfriend, as if a boyfriend defines their being. Sad.

No daisymae, it is WE who have lost the innocence, not really the world. Ask any toddler - he will still regard his world with wide-eyed innocence.
