Both parties have no clue what they stand for anymore, other than staying in power. I would'nt want any of the candidates in my home, let alone in charge of the government. I'm sick of both parties & wondering why we "never" hear about the other candidates{Independents, Green Party, Ect.} How can we change this, & am I the only one that wants a change in D.C.???

No you are not Fab. The twp party system in our country has not served us well, at least not lately, and will probably not inspire us much in the future either.

I am with you. I think that it is going to take people who are disgusted to step up and get involved in alternative political parties by donating time, money, etc. And then even if the candidates are losing, continue to follow principles and vote our conscience.

Write letters to newspapers, RNC and DNC expressing displeasure.

What do you think is the answer?

I am not sure the candidates for the other parties are so great either, but I agree. Out of 300 million people it would seem that we could do better, but the only way they get where they are is to play the game! Some are just worse than others!

We need to totally fund presidential campaigns. We would get more people to run, and they wouldn't have to crawl in bed with the slime of the earth!

As a registered Independent, I only see one candidate with honesty, who would truly represent the people, and that person is Ron Paul. The current political system in the U.S. is all about money, big money, and if you don't have big money, you don't have a chance! The government is a government of big money and business, by big money and business, and for big money and business. Last election, I voted for Ralph Nader, and I was told by some that it was a wasted vote. Wrong, not wasted, as it was an honest vote for an honest candidate! I choose not to vote for the lessor of two frauds or evils, who are placed before me by big money.

I agree I am a little disgusted but I am an independent and I think putting personal views behind, vote for the most experienced, which would be Hillary 08', what her husband did has nothing to do with her being qualified.

Any thinking person is disgusted.

This is not a recent phenomenon, a lyric to a Joan Baez song released in the late '60's described the election as "the choice of cancer or polio,"

The candidates she was referring to would be considered great statesmen compared to the flotsam and jetsam running these days..

You rarely hear abut third party candidates because our system is n't set up to accomodate them--so they have no real chance. Maybe it shouldn't be that way--but it is.

People who are really concerned about our political life don't just whine--they get out and find candidates they can support--and work for them. They let their representatives know what they think. They show up at public hearings, rallies, and protests.

Of course, its soooooooooo much easier to just feel righteous by griping than to actually get out and DO anything to make this country better.

I agree. I don't see how anything can change without term limits and more regulation on lobbyist kickbacks. These two parties are in power, and they intend to stay in power by limiting the chances of any third parties using election laws and regulations.

Well if you really want a change a guy on the Republican side that is really good for this is Congressman Tom Tancredo who although he is a Republican, he has the endorsement of the Reform party.

I agree, a mormon? a guy that married his cousin? a wife that was even betrayed by her own husband that settled on a sexual harassment case and obstruction of justice? they all suck.
