is it my impression or i'm getting lots of solicitations?

It's amazing how self-serving people are, isn't it? I'm referring to those offering you scams.
I started my consulting business because my former employer (a consulting company) decided NOT to do a big project. So, I went to the client and offered to do it myself. This was enough cash flow to get me started. I started a software business as an offshoot of the consulting business.
Both are doing very well.

I started my business by teaching what I know to people who just bought computers. At the time, I had a Windows 95 system, and used America Online. That's what I would teach others. In the meantime, I'd also be teaching myself all sorts of programs, and whatever new operating system was coming out.
My hours were full time, and I kept mostly local. I also lectured, and offered myself as a consultant from time to time. Now I teach web design, Photoshop ,MS Office, and more to the home user as well as business owner.
