For example Fn+F1 is hibernate, Fn+F2 is turn off/on wifi, Fn+F3 is battery check etc... will I still have that or will I have to install something else?

Yes, you should. The Fn key is linked to the BIOS, not the OS. I would suggest upgrading to the latest revision of the BIOS before upgrading the OS. Also, make sure and download all the latest Vista drivers for your laptop from Dell's site. http://support.dell.com

You might. but those functions are related to motherboard drivers so if youve got a driver disk for your laptop have it handy

I bought an old gateway laptop that came with win2k. I put xp pro on it and lost those functions
