In QI, he said what animals can give birth to either a 'Lili' or a 'Titi', and claims it's a liger.

Ligers (lion and tiger mix) can't actually breed, much like a mule (horse and donkey mix). This is because they are different species and, infact, one way to distinguish between species is the ability to produce fertile offspring.

Just a bit of info!

Night all :)

Didn't add the question mark, it comes up automatically :).

I think Stephen Fry is quite funny and seems quite intelligent, and I know this was obviously a script that he was following but it seemed like a bit of knowledge to share :)!

Tentofield - Oh, well obviously you've done your research. I got this information off my biology teacher, so obviously I believed it. You don't expect a biology teacher to be giving you flawed information.

This was question was only meant as a bit of fun, to give someone who possibly didn't know that little titbit of information..

And also, thanks for the 'casts doubts upon the questioner' remark..

What doubts exactly?

This forum is spoilt sometimes by people who take the fun out of things and make me not want to ask anymore questions :(.

My THOUGHT on all this is that I thank God Stephen Fry exists. I think its the ultimate injustice that he is disabled and suffers as he does. We need Stephen Fry in this world more than many heads of states that I could name.

While mules are usually sterile, there have been more than sixty recorded cases of female mules giving birth after mating with a 100% donkey or horse. Male ligers are sterile but female ligers are fertile and if mated with a male lion or tiger will produce offspring. The young is called a lili /liliger or a tili/ tiliger depending on the male.

I would say that rather than proving Stephen Fry to be stupid, which he certainly isn't, it does cast some doubt on the questioner.

I know you've added a question mark at the end but is that actually a question?

Also, I like Stephen Fry, he's funny, and this is maybe the exception that proves the rule.
