I bought one of those adapters so I i basicly have a regular wall socket plug in my car. I was wondering, if I fully charge a laptop battery with the car OFF, do I run the risk of getting a flat car battery?

If your car battery is old and or worn out your possiblility of a dead battery is greater than with a newer battery. Although many power inverters now have low voltage shutdown. If you want to charge your laptop battery you should be doing so when your vehicle is running.

While this adds to the load on the car battery it is unlikely to be the main cause of a flat battery. If it flattens the battery with the car off, the battery or perhaps the car charging system was probably weak anyway. Two or three hours with the engine off will probably be OK, overnight or a few days might be different.

I doubt it but something to think about if your driving large truck it likely has a large battery but a small car likely has a smaller, more vulnerable battery
