does anyone know the rules and regs. in the styate of maine, before installing a property line fence?

I have anasty neighbor. Two different colors of paint,,,and two different side of a stockade fence.I am going be looking at.....................Is this right?

Go to your local courthouse, the building codes division or the codes division and tell them your problems. They more then likely have all the details you will have to follow. I'm sure you may have to take out a permit, have a plan of the fence. You may have to prove property lines or have a survey then there's standards like height and type you'll have to follow. I have found out that a fence is probably the most complicated thing to do because of property lines involved.
If your neighbor is that nasty, he may even object and you'll have to get the county boards permission to put up the fence.

It's not the state that controls those issues.
Check your city's government section in your phone directory for either planning/zoning or call the city clerk to get the phone nbr for the specific department to help you on that question.
This way you'll get the right answer.
