I'm not being a smart @ss on this folks. Just trying to find out what married people do after the sex and other adrenaline type activities are gone.

Just a curious. I'm a single guy, and I'm happy being single. No drama here. But, I do see older couples, and I know that there's a lot of them out ther, who are happy being with each other. What do they do to keep their relationship going?

Please help. I'm not looking for a Holywood type answer, but reality from people who've been there.

Old, meaning 60's maybe?

Also, do you regret being married?

I think my parents who are in their 60's are working on making me a little brother/sister right now... LOL

Go new places.
Do new things.
Have sex somewhere other than in bed.
Go to the drive in.
Golf, boat, fish, travel to new places
Laugh a lot.
Make fun of young people. (just kidding. Thought I'd throw that in there.)
Meet new people.
Try new hobbies, sports, activities--sometimes together, sometimes apart.

I am not sure the sex is ever gone. It evolves, but if it gets boring, that is our own fault. We have a lot of fun with it and do and try new things.

We do simple things like read together in bed with legs touching. It is comforting and cozy...
Enjoy sunsets with pina` coladas on the beach.
Give each other backrubs( to help ease the arthritis pain)

He left me chocolate and a romantic card in my car on his way out of town just to let me know he'd miss me. I repaid the attention when he got home in a way only a man can apprecitate. We be treat each other well and ourselves well.

Happiness is a personal decision. When two people both decide to take responsibility for the relationship, life with each other just gets better. I think the key is that if you start finding yourself bored or boring, take some time and break out of the box--don't wait for your partner to do it. Do it yourself and carry them with you. Routine is nice, but we crave newness and excitement so we go find it. We still date and flirt and have a good time. If I see him starting to fall into the same old same old, I shake things up.

Last week we met for drinks at a Friday Night at Five jam downtown. I looked around and knew if I was there alone, he would be the guy I would attempt to pick up. I told him so. He did the same. We had fun with it and danced and laughed a lot.

At the end of the month we will go to the Adirondacks. We will swim nude at night and have sex in the woods. We will fish and play. He is going to teach me to water ski. We will definetly be going tubing and exploring.

I don't think the adventure ever ends. You live, you laugh, encourage, support, and be the best spouse you can. Married does not mean dead.

I think we are the same as when we were young except that after being through a lot and making it, we are more secure with each other. We both like adventure and adrenaline and yet we both enjoy peace and quiet other times. The selfishness we had when we were younger has turned into more of a selflessness that fits better.

I hope this helps. You choose whether or not to be happy. When you get married, if you are unhappy, do not try to fix your spouse. Do all you can to make it better. Don't cheat and don't leave and the rest will all work out. Have fun. Live, laugh, love. Best of luck.

There is no correct answer to this question. As for me, I'm 50 but don't really consider myself 'old.' Yes my sex life has dwindled since my youth. I'm not a spring chicken anymore but there is still plenty of fire left in the oven.
Love means different things to different people as they age. When you're young, it's sex and having the 'good time.' What keeps older couples still tight is from the relationship that has taken them decades to build. True loves takes time to grow.

If you're healthy you can be active in all the sex and adrenaline activities you like, for as long as you stay healthy.
Don't assume older people don't have sex! lol
Btw...just how old is older? Because people in their 40's and 50's have barely slowed down unless they have a health problem.

Same things they do when they are younger. Old folks know how to have a good time, just as the young ones do. Just not with drugs.

Larry King is 73, has two young sons and hosts a popular television program. Older people pretty much do whatever the hell we want to.

The very same things we did when we were in our early 20's, buddy...

OK, so maybe we're not QUITE as acrobatic as we were 30 years ago, but the things that made us happy, excited and satisfied us are the same things we do today.

Truth.
