Nah, they already had Aldrige getting at least a double-double a night. In a few more years, he could be one of the best young centers in the game. And one game last season, he went for like 30 points and 15 boards. I would have taken Durant, because they can definitely use more scoring...

Its not about who is better now, it is about which player will help their franchise. Plus, the Blazers needed a big man, the Sonics didn't. They needed a small forward because Rashard Lewis left. So yeah I think the Trailblazers made a good decision to take Oden instead of Durant.

Yes, because they have no low post presence now that they traded Zach Randolph. So in that case, he is the best pick they could have gotten.

Also, no, because Durant is a player that will do outstanding throught his career and adjust easily to the nba from college. Durant is an all around good player, while Oden is huge and defensively good, but Oden will get better as he gains experience.

In the End:
Oden: Height, defensive presence
Durant:scorer, offensive and defensive pressence

Yes I do. The thing about Durant, is that there are already at least five to ten players like him that I can think of that are alot like him. Oden has the rare combination of quickness, height, athleticism and agility. Big men normally take a little longer to develop, but the potential rewards of drafting a center over a small forward are more substanial. Unlike players like a Tim Duncan who is boring and unspectacular, Oden at least has the potential to be great and entertaining at the same time. A player like Durant comes along like every three to five years, but Oden is more rare and special in that regard.

I like what I heard someone say about another player at one time, "You can't teach tall."
Durant is amazing, but he stopped growing a long time ago.
Even if Oden were to never develop offensively he is a proven shot blocker and defender. That's almost all due to his height.
I'm a Pacer fan and loved Rik Smitts. He holds the record for blocked shots in the Pacer organization. Rik was never a strong defender. He was just tall.
