public records - keep an eye out for your local newspapers. They often publish births, divorces, and marriages

Most states have a website for court records & such. I live in Oklahoma and we have one, it's a handy tool. The one for my state will be in the link below so you can see what I am talking about. You don't have to type in EVERYTHING, a first & last name works.

It's public record, you can go to city hall & research it yourself.
They also publish marriages & divorces in the newspaper, they publish them in a Divorces Asked/Divorces Granted manner.
